Title: Autograph Letter signed from Marianne Moore to Alfred Barr, director of the Museum of Modern Art, New York
Place Published: Brooklyn, NY
Publisher:
Date Published: 19483
Description:
Autograph letter, signed. 6x8".
The noted poet writes the director of New York's MOMA, in full: "Dear Alfred, Thank you for encouraging me. Taking time you could otherwise use to write to me. You won't discard me, will you, when you find me writing on Tom Fool and Fred Atkinson? I should not have the medal and went to a great deal of trouble to see it went to someone qualified. (Well - if it is like the one they gave Alexis St Leger it is about the size of a wafer - thin and not hideous). You and Mr. Soby should be collecting awards - maybe are -. I keep "denned-up" (as the Adirondak Guides say,) and don't know what goes on- I hear the hornbeam and birches in the garden of the Museum are beautiful, jealous of the premises. I am ever grateful to you Alfred, Marianne. Was not very discursive a M. Hoffmans but hope all is well with you."
