Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, probably Colima or Nayarit, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. A petite olla is quite rare as it is a rattling jar, the rattles contained in spherical bodies that project to the interior of the vessel. The exterior boasts a lovely bichrome finish in hues of red and cream with diagonal registers of cream hued circular motifs against a red ground alternating with cream-hued diagonal striations. Size: 4-1/4" in diameter x 3-1/4" high.
