Description
Iran, 19th century CE. This is a square tile with glazed artwork of a brightly colored bird and flowers; blues and purples are the dominant colors. Tiles were used to decorate interiors and exteriors of many surfaces in Persia in the 19th century -- religious buildings, imperial palaces, and residences of dignitaries. Size: 7.1" W x 7.1" H (18 cm x 18 cm).
