... paper. 20 x 24 inches, signed lower left: Mozley; "This painting was part of the exhibition: Loren Mozley: Structural Integrity, which was organized by the Grace Museum in Abilene, TX, The McKinney Ave. Contemporary (MAC) in Dallas, TX and the Dallas Museum of Art in 2012, 2013. A color plate of this painting is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue: Loren Mozley, Structural Integrity © 2012 by MAC on page 34 and also illustrated as a large color plate on the inside back cover of the book.
The DMA recounts the following about the artist: “Andrew Dasburg’s Cezannesque aesthetic would be most significant in the Mozley’s development, and the younger artist [Mozley] subsequently traveled to Paris for formal study; there he encountered the works of Cezanne, as well as the latest trends in Europe modernism. Shortly thereafter, he declared himself a ‘child of the Cubist order’ and proceeded to build a distinctively original approach to his expression of form.†This “Cezannesque†style is evident in this particular painting.
