San Antonio Federal Court House, c. 1935; print. 8 x 12 inches, signed lower right: Howard Cook; A limited edition print c. 1935 of Howard Cook's famous wall mural he painted in the San Antonio Federal Court House over a two year period completed in 1939. At the time Cook was a well-known artist working on federal grants from the Works Progress administration. Cook is a highly collected artist known mostly for his prints, who settle in Taos, NM and traveled throughout the world. He was an illustrator for Harpers, Atlantic Monthly and Forum magazines, and two time winner of the Guggenheim Fellowship among many other awards. Most of his works can be found in the Dallas Museum of Art, Smithsonian, Whitney, Metropolitan Museum of Art, DeYound Memorial Museum in San Francisco, among many other collections across the country.
