American School, 20th century. "Well", mixed media sculpture, marker signed to underside "E.B.". Large African or Native American tribal inspired floor sculpture constructed of four chip carved wooden legs surmounted by a cast stone vessel or well of ovoid form wrapped with a wide run of cowhide or suede secured with rough hewn iron nails, the narrow vessel opening at top with nine natural animal bones, likely deer or antelope, arching outward from center and secured to each other by leather cording. Overall approximate height 37", diameter 15".
