Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987), “Ladies and Gentlemen”-1975, screenprint in color on Arches wove paper, pencil signed lower left with "p.p" for printer's or publisher's proof, additionally pencil signed on lower left of verso, published by Gabriele Mazzotta, Milan, Italy, printed by Alexander Heinrici, New York. Modern figural screenprint depicting a bust length view of an African American cross dresser or transgendered person with dark black hair, pink lips, and yellow and green checked shirt with hand to his face. Framed approximately 44.25" x 29.75". Sheet size approximately 44" x 29". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Reference: Feldman and Scheldmann II.137. Note: This image exists in an edition of 250, 25 AP, 3 PP. The series was conceived of by Warhol by taking Big Shot Polaroid photographs of cross-dressers at a nightclub called The Gilded Grape. Your work is one of a portfolio of 10 images.
