Robert Venturi (American, 1925- ) for Knoll International "Empire" chair-circa 1984/1985, red laminate over molded plywood, label on underside from Knoll International. Post modern chair recalling the form of traditional Empire chairs with shaped back and down turned ears and reinterpreting in modern terms with streamlined form and new materials for construction of chair. Chair with grey wool seat cushion. Overall approximate height 32.25", width 24.75", depth 23". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Ann Jacob of Highlands, North Carolina.
