Description
Latin American, Mexico, ca. 1900 CE. A traditional Mexican serape or sarape, of a characteristic long rectangular blanket-like poncho form, tightly woven from chocolate brown wool fibers, the neck adorned with a floral motif of pink, red, cornflower blue, pale green, and pale gold hues. Both ends are handsomely fringed, and there is an opening in the middle for the wearer's head. A beautiful example! Size: 75" x 42" (190.5 x 106.7 cm).
