Lotus
The lotus flower is one of the most depicted flowers in Asia and symbolizes purity, perfection, summer and is one of the eight treasures of Buddhism. The combination of flower and bud is a symbol of marriage and fertility. As the lotus rises pure in muddy water, it serves as an example of a pure life in the mundane world according to Buddhist thought. Shown with eight petals, it represents the eightfold path of Buddha’s teachings. The lotus often appears in connection with the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin, or paired with ducks, as a symbol of unity and harmony.
