Description
Probably Luristan, modern day northern Iran, ca. 1200 to 1000 BCE. This is a thin bronze spearhead with a bent tang that extends above the blade and curves tightly to one side. Bronze Age Luristan art was the work of nomadic herdsmen and horsemen who crafted small, portable objects, including spears, daggers, swords, and other weapons; these were often placed in graves to accompany the dead. A similar piece is held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Size: 14.25" L x 1.25" W (36.2 cm x 3.2 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
