Louisville, Kenturcky, 1866, hand-written report from the Bureau Refugees, Freedmen & Abandoned Lands, Office Superintendent, Jefferson County, Ky. Document describes the investigator's report of "...my operations in endeavoring to ascertain the parties implicated in the assault upon San Buka, a colored man at Mt. Washington and of my efforts in endeavoring to arrest James Ridgway one of the perpetrators of the outrage." It describes in great detail his activities and whom he interviewed..."the negro woman got up; she said Jim Ridgway had not come home that night..." He describes that he has been warned to be vigilant, that there are desperate people out there. An incredible insight to post Civil War America. Sold with full transcription. The 8-page paper-clipped document shows definite discoloration on left side and some tearing.
