Description
A late Victorian 18ct gold sapphire and diamond cluster ring. The graduated oval-shape sapphire line, within an old-cut diamond shared surround, to the bifurcated shoulders. Estimated total diamond weight 0.50ct. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1899, partially indistinct. Weight 3.3gms.
Condition
Overall condition fair to good. Surface scratches in keeping with general age and wear. There is a hairline split to the inside bottom of the band. Band shows evidence of a resize. Would recommend attention to all settings as some claws deficient/worn. The sapphires are a medium-dark blue hue, well saturated, with light surface scratches and moderate nibbles to the facet edges. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. The diamonds are fairly bright, some with small chips by the girdles. Ring size M. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue and online for coloured gemstones. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
