Description
A late 18th/early 19th century portrait miniature pendant. Of oval outline, lampooning the last mistress of Louis XV, Madame du Barry, as a white peacock, within a white metal foliate pendant surround. Length 4.5cms. Weight 20.2gms.
Condition
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Slight paint loss and drying to the background of the image, loss of gilt overlay. Bevelled glass mount with small nicks and surface scratches. White metal mount with traces of gilt finish, general tarnish and discolouration.
