Having brass wheels and gears, showing the movements of Mercury, Venus, and Earth around the Sun; and the Moon around the Earth in raised three dimensional spheres above a printed, colored, and varnished dial on 3 short feet, in original mahogany box. Maker’s banner slightly concealed by mechanism. Printed Zodiac ring on dial identifies 32 directions, degrees of amplitude and azimuth, and position of Mercury and Venus relative to the Sun. Height to top of globe: 6 1/4” x 13 1/4” diameter. Original mahogany locking case: 7 1/4”h x 13 1/2”w x 13 1/2”d.
Condition: Zodiac ring and small globe have expected light toning, minor foxing, and tiny surface chips. Zodiac ring has areas of separation from wooden platform and a few small paper tears (largest of which are 2 ¼”, 2 ¾”, and ¾”). Mahogany case shows age appropriate wear including loosening to top and weakness at dovetails.
