Peter Gay (born Peter Joachim Fr”hlich; June 20, 1923 _ May 12, 2015) was an American historian, educator and author. He was Sterling Professor of History at Yale University. He received the National Book Award in History and Biography for The Rise of Modern Paganism (1967). Described by The New York Times in 2007 as "the country's pre-eminent cultural historian", Litchfield County Auctions is pleased to represent Professor Gay's Riverside Drive estate.(PGAY)
