Item Details

Description

A Vintage Black Lacquer Storage Box
The box is rectangular shaped, and has a black ground with gilt and red coloring that depict figures around pavilions. It is 15 inches wide X 12 inches long X 4 1/2 inches high. Condition: There are two cracks on the lid, one is approximately 3 1/2 inches long, and the other is approximately 2 1/4 inches long. There is a gouge on the front edge that is approximately 1/2 inch long. The left front corner is missing some paint, and there is another crack, in an L shape on the back corner, approximately 2 3/4 inches long. Another corner has a crack and chip. The chip is approximately 5/8 inches long. Some of the black lacquer from the bottom corners is cracked and missing. Provenance: From a Virginia Estate.

Condition

There are two cracks on the lid, one is approximately 3 1/2 inches long, and the other is approximately 2 1/4 inches long. There is a gouge on the front edge that is approximately 1/2 inch long. The left front corner is missing some paint, and there is another crack, in an L shape on the back corner, approximately 2 3/4 inches long. Another corner has a crack and chip. The chip is approximately 5/8 inches long. Some of the black lacquer from the bottom corners is cracked and missing.
