Description
Group of Three English Oak Pub Stools, 18th century, comprising a pair of stools of traditional form, each with a rectangular seat above a carved frieze, raised on turned legs joined by a box stretcher ending in block feet, h. 19", w. 18-1/2", d. 10-1/2", together with a similar, taller example, h. 22", w. 19", d. 11-1/2".
Condition
In good original condition, exhibiting mars, abrasions, dings, dents and wear consistent with age and use. The surface imperfections are generally beneath later finish and wax. Wear and small losses to the bottom of the feet of all. All appear to be in functional condition. The largest stool exhibits the greatest play at the glue joints, and more losses/chips to the seat than the others, including a pair of holes at the perimeter molded edge. The plank seat is loose at the pegs on one stool but remains functional.
