Description
An Indus Valley terracotta fertility figure, Mehrgarh Period VII, c. 2600 – 2000 BC, in typical pose, legs together and wearing a low headdress or hairstyle. Her nose is long and pointed and her eyes wide and round, she wears multiple neck collars, the lowermost with central circular pendant nestled between her huge breasts which she supports with both hands. H: 4 1/8 in (10.4cm). A nice example from one of the older cultures, light mineral deposits throughout. Ex Southern California private collection. Custom metal base.
