"The papers here published cover the whole spectrum of developing knowledge, including education itself (papers by Thomas Barnes), language, crime and punishment (William Turner with inevitable references to Beccaria, Blackstone and Howard), meteorology, geology, medicine, chemistry, and there are papers on manufacturing processes." Great Content on many subjects, five engraved plates;473 pages in Volume I and 514 plates in Volume II. Nice leather bindings with gold embellishments. Some wear and rubbing with volume I front board some discoloration and light loss of leather on spine. Internally Fine with bookplates of Hugh Cecil, Earl of Lonsdale. Measures 5.5 x 8.5".
