G. H. Rothe (1935-2007) was a print artist born in Beuthen, Germany (now part of Poland) and grew up in Wiedensbruck. Her father was a goldsmith, and she grew up in an artistic family. Her own work reveals her craftsmanlike ethic which her father passed onto her. After her studies in drawing and printmaking, she was awarded the Villa-Romana Prize, which funded a year's study in Florence, Italy. She lived in Paris, Vienna and Moscow before settling in New York City and, later, Carmel, CA.
