A Costermonger's Sunday-best checked tweed suit, circa 1890-1900, comprising: frock coat with velvet collar, waistcoat and trousers, all with moulded composition horse-hoof buttons, chest 102cm, 40in (3) Costermonger's (vegetable and fruit market traders) were a common sight across Britain in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Harry Champion, the Cockney music hall performer, sometimes appeared on stage wearing a suit similar to this one.
