Item Details
Description
Bactria, ca. 250 to 125 BCE. This is a pair of Bactrian bronzes, both of which were probably related to saddling horses. The patina on the hollow component is a deep turquoise. Bactria, in the steppes of central Asia, relied upon horses and camels -- animals needing saddles or other straps -- to transport goods through its harsh territory. Pieces like these would have been used in everyday life. Size of largest: 2-1/2"L x 2-1/4"W x 1/2"H (6.4 cm x 5.7 cm x 1.3 cm).
