Description

The piece represents the side of a circus wagon. Circa 1910, hand carved wood with painted wild animals. This folk art piece has finely carved details, especially the Lion head crest and fanciful head on bottom. Another unusual feature is the entire chain is carved from one piece of wood! The three paintings of Wolf, Lion, and Tiger were done on artist board by an unknown folk artist. Right side end of chain large wood hoop replaced. Retains original handmade spear and whip. Minor surface wear. Spear is 31'', whip is 34'' and chain length is 92'' long.
