20th century AD. A rectangular paper panel on a fabric backing with wooden roller; painted scene of a mother kneeling beside her sleeping child, two cats playing alongside; panel of calligraphic text and two red chop seals; attributed to Zhou Huang. 602 grams, 200 x 66cm overall, 67 x 46cm image (78 3/4 x 26"). Property of an American lady living in Arizona, USA. Huang Zhou (1925–1997), was actively involved in the art of the People's Liberation Army under which he became a staff painter at the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution. In 1981, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Painting. He was also a social activist who made outstanding contributions to the preservation and promotion of national art and to the advancement of public art education. [No Reserve]
