Ulysses S. Grant: 1868 RNC Delegate Group. Three items that belonged to James Bentliff, a Wisconsin delegate to the 1868 Republican National Convention in Chicago that nominated U. S. Grant for President. It includes a 5" x 8" form letter presenting him with his credential and badge, a 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" silk ribbon worn by Bentliff as "Delegate Third District, Wisconsin.", plus a 3 1/4" x 2 1/4" blue pasteboard ticket to the convention. The ticket is stamped on verso "National Union Committee Chicago, May 20, 1868." A fine group.
