Circa 1870, each with maker's marks, further marked ''Pat. 1864'' and retailer's mark ''W. Wilson McGrew'' (Cincinnati, OH 1855-1875), all but the tea knives further marked ''Sterling'', a partial service in the ''Medallion'' pattern designed 1864 by George Wilkinson, comprising 12 forks (7.5''), 5 dessert/oval soup spoons (6.875''), 12 solid dessert/tea knives (8.375''), 5 serving/tablespoons (8.625''), 1 sugar shell spoon with gilt-washed bowl (8.625''), 1 solid soup ladle (13''), 1 flat twisted-handle master butter spreader with engraved blade (7.375'') and 1 flat twisted-handle cake saw with engraved blade (11''), each engraved ''Roberts'', 38 pieces , weighable sterling: 82.460 oz troy approximately, est: $1000/1500

Condition
General marks, scratches, tarnishing and wear commensurate with age and moderate use. A few pieces with scattered scratches and fleabites to edges, especially to bowls of spoons. One tablespoon with a slightly bent handle. Scattered knives with more wear and slight bending to blades; one knife with three small notches to blade and a masticated terminal. Two forks with one masticated/bent tine. Engraved, as stated.
