Gustave Baumann (German/American, 1881 - 1971). "February". Original color woodcut. 1912. Stamp signed with the initials, lower left; signed in the block, lower right. Cream wove paper. Wide margins. Fine impression with heavy ink application. Good condition; a few fox marks and minor staining in the margins. Literature/catalogue raisonne: See: Acton, Krause, and Yurtseven's 'Gustave Baumann - Nearer to Art,' pg. 20; and David Acton's 'Hand of a Craftsman - The Woodcut Technique of Gustave Bauman,' pg. 77. Provenance: Through the artist Will Vawter. Included in the suite of 13 woodcuts (the twelve different months & the title page) published in "All the Year Round" as "February."
