For the Chicago World’s Fair, Chicago, 1893, commemorating Christopher Columbus and the Santa Maria. 1) 12.5 in. high x 11 in. wide, depicts the Santa Maria with Columbus on the deck, the base has Native American Indians below the boat, fish style feet and date “1492”; 2.5 in. replaced paper dial, brass 1 day spring driven movement with lever escapement, has alarm mechanism, movement is in running condition though it needs some adjustment. 2) 12.5 in. high x 9.5 in. wide, depicts the ship with figure of Columbus, globe with eagle & flags and Native American Indians relief decorated on the base; original 2 in. painted metal dial signed “The New Haven Clock Co.”, brass 1 day spring driven time only movement with lever escapement, is not running, case signed on the reverse “Made by Golden Novelty Mfg. Co., Chicago. 3) 10.75 in. high x 7.5 in. wide with easel stand, depicts the ship with Columbus and Native American Indians below the ship, on the front sail has relief advertising for “J. Cohn Clothier, 62 & 64 State St., Albany, NY. Original 1.5 in. paper dial signed “Golden Novelty Mfg. Co., has Roman hour numerals and sub seconds dial; brass 1 day spring driven movement with lever escapement, not running. Weight: 9.25 lbs.
