2 Chain Inverted Pendulum Mystery Swinging Clock. Beautiful standing figure of a woman wearing long garments, she holds up a filigree decorated bracket in her left arm from which the pendulum hangs; signed on the top plate behind the figures feet with initials “S.Y.” with orb & cross mark, nice medium brown finish, on a white marble base and gilt bronze feet. 4.5 in. sphere hangs from a pair of chains under the bracket that the figure is holding; the spherical dial has applied brass Roman hour numerals and gilt filigree decorated hands. Round brass 8 day time only spring driven movement is numbered “8612” and is contained in the ball, has a pin pallet escapement; the complex pendulum has a round counter weight rotating back and forth on an X suspension, the counterweight is attached to the crutch powered by the escapement which swings the pendulum. A rare and unusual clock in good working condition, no breaks or repairs, nice clean overall finish. 25.25 in. high. Weight: 14 lbs.
