4th-5th century AD. A bronze belt suite in late Roman military style comprising a central c-shaped loop with beast-head finials and ribbed tongue, surrounding rectangular plate with running scroll and quatrefoil motifs, rolled and ribbed forward edge, holes for four attachment pins (three present); a triangular counterplate with trefoil motif and geometric border, three attachment pins. 44 grams total, 62-71mm (2 1/2 - 2 3/4"). From a Canadian collection; acquired before 1980. [2]
