A rare piece, this refinished rod with 5 sections, extra tip and removable grip builds into two different fly rods, 6'8" or 8'2" depending upon the number of sections utilized. Not found in any catalogue, although Keane mentions such variations as multi-section rods were made to order. The grip is ferruled for the butt, with an insert to reduce the size of the ferrule to accommodate the second section, of preferred, to make the shorter length rod. Butt cap is the standard "F.E. Thomas/Special/Bangor, Me." Green bag, Champion tube with replaced heavy brass cap. A contemporary blue Thomas label (not a decal) applied to the tube.
