Description

Samuel Lewis Shane (1900-1993, American, New York) oil on canvas. Pictured is a small house nestled among bizarre trees with violent sky behind. Shane studied in New York with John Sloan and in Paris with Fernand Leger. Fellow students include John Graham, Stuart Davis and Alexander Calder. Faintly signed lower left and with a paper label on the back which reads "Landscape by Samuel L. Shane." Sight size is 19 1/2 by 15 1/2 inches and with labeled Heydenryk frame size is 26 1/2 by 22 inches. Good color with some craqueleur. Tacking strips have been added to top and bottom of the original canvas. Minor scuffs to the gold liner on the Heydenryk frame.
