Description
Roseville Experimental vase with incised and painted flower and vine decoration under a gloss finish, possibly executed by Frank Ferrell. Done on a form first seen in the Luster line in 1921 (shape 163-6"), this unmarked vase has small yellow flowers and gray vines trailing from the rim, done in an Arts & Crafts style. Decoration is first incised in the wet clay then painted in and outlined in black. Height 6 1/8 inches. Fine overall crazing and a tiny bruise at the rim. As Art Director at Roseville,Ferrell produced many experimental designs that never made it into production.
