BRASS MANHATTAN BRASS CO. "PERFECTION" GLASS RESERVOIR SINGLE-ARM STUDENT LAMP, vertical tank on adjustable central shaft, weighted base, removable cobalt blue glass reservoir embossed "PERFECTION STUDENT LAMP PAT NOV 22, 81". Fitted with an electrical socket, non-period cased sea foam green umbrella-form shade. Manhattan Brass Co. Circa 1881. 22 3/4" HOA, 12" WOA, 5 1/2" D foot. Shade 5 3/4" H, 7" D fitter.
Literature: Parallels Miller/Solverson - Student Lamps of the Victorian Era, p. 77, fig. 51.
Provenance: Property of a Texas private collector.

Condition

Glass elements undamaged. Brass components with imperfections including a drilled hole for electrical cord in center ball which slides on shaft, scattered wear and minute dents, short separation to foot and lacking a finial to underside of drip cup.
