Description

Very Fine and Rare Paint Decorated Miniature Blanket Chest. Attributed to Joel Palmer, Fulton County, Pennsylvania. Inscribed E.M., central lyre vase of flowers, flanked by sunflower trees and floral and rosette decoration on feet, all painted on red ground. Molded lid, interior till, dovetailed case, molded base with shaped cut out bracket feet. This chest is pictured in the "Pennsylvania-German Decorated Chest" by Monroe H. Fabian, page 182, figure 193 and page 216, figure 250 and a similiar example page 181 figure 191. 19-1/4"h. x 31-1/4"w. x 14-7/8"d. Condition: Very good with strip of wood repair to back of lid.
