A hand painted on silk scroll with two subject panels, the lower being a finely painted city plan or palace grounds depiction with many structures set within a flat landscape, each with walls and doors in red and peaked roofs in vivid blue with the surrounding landscape tonal neutrals, the scene devoid of any figures; the upper panel with 23 lines of black calligraphic marks and two red seals at left, possibly a poem or description of the painting's subject; the two subject panels to a cream silk surround with phoenixes amid cloud scrolls and with a stained wood roller. Total approximate height 68", width 25".
