Description
English, late 18th to early 19th century (circa 1780-1800). A pair of mahogany side chairs in the Late Georgian style with overall incised moldings, each comprising a serpentine crest rail over slightly curved stiles, the central pierced splat decorated with interlacing ribbons and flanking scrolls terminating in carved rosettes, within a coved and molded shoe, the seat upholstered in needlepoint diaper pattern in shades of rose, mint green, pale blue, and yellow on beige ground over the serpentine seat rail, raised on four squared molded front legs joined by an H-shaped stretcher to raking back legs. Approximate height 36", width 21.5", depth 18.5", seat to floor 17.75".
