Description
Swedish, 19th century. A Gustavian style bergere or tub armchair in comprising a light grey painted wooden frame with distressed finish, the carved edges forming a tub back surmounted by two carved flowers, the padded arms terminating in knuckled hand rests over molded curved arm supports, the back, arms, and seat upholstered in conforming pale aquamarine fabric decorated with mocha circles centered by small yellow circles, the four cabriole legs headed by acanthus carved knees terminating in scroll feet. Approximate height 40", width 29", depth 21.5", seat to floor 19". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Helen Ballard, Atlanta, Georgia.
