Antique tobacco jar. Made of two-layer pressed brass. An embossed pipe smoker in period attire up front. Shape and design characteristic of the period. Note the way the sheets of brass were fastened. Dutch. Circa mid/late 1700's. Measurements: Approx. 8" high; 8" diameter (across)

Due to the great age and extensive use and polishing, the outer layer has worn off on the high-relief areas on the portrait. These holes, however, are not evident from the inside as there is an inner layer
