Description
Continental, Late 19th/ early 20th century. Miniature figural portrait painting on oval porcelain panel depicting a bust length figure after Maria Anna Angelika Kauffman (better known as Angelica Kauffman) (Austrian, 1741-1807), "Portrait of a Young Woman Dressed as a Vestal Virgin", currently housed at the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Old Masters Gallery) in Dresden, Germany. Young woman with curled blonde to brown hair over left shoulder and elegantly shrouded in white veil and gown. Unsigned. Portrait plaque contained within oval frame with twisted wire motif. Verso of plaque with impressed "E 22". Overall approximately 2.5" x 2.3". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
