Attributed to Gustave Jacquet (French, 1846-1909) Portrait of a Lady. Oil on canvas laid to board, signed and dated 1874 LR Canvas: 46.25" x 24.5" Frame: 49.25" x 27.5"

Canvas has been laid to board for stabilization. The painting sustains a heavy layer of varnish. There is a .5" x .25" and a .5" x 1" spot of craquelure to the area below her ear that have been overpainted. There is a light amount of craquleure throughout. There are areas of overpainting restoration to the area above the left arm between her arm and body and also running down the left side of her body to a 8" vertical area. There is a 1" diagonal scuff to the left shoulder which has left a whitish scuff mark. About 10" up from the bottom of her dress, to the left, there is a 6" horizontal indentation line with very light pigment loss. To the lower right quadrant, there is a .5" nick to the pigment which has been overpainted. There is light buildup overall and to the top of her coif with veil, there are slightly visible brushstrokes from application of a later varnish layer
