This elegant etching features a demure mother with her child. Fine imprint, with crisp lines.
Arthur William Heintzelmann (1891-1965) was the head of the Fine Arts department at the Rhode Island School of Design (where he received his formal training) and Keeper of the Prints at the Boston Public Library. He won numerous prizes for his work, including the Logan Prize from the Art Institute of Chicago and a gold medal at the Paris International Exposition in 1937. His etchings, drawings and other works are found in many museum collections, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the British Museum, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
