Continental porcelain allegorical statue, Marie-Antoinette as Minerva, modeled after the original by Josse-Francois Joseph Le Riche (1780-1801, the principle modeler at Sevres), Queen of France portrayed as the Goddess of Wisdom and patron of the arts, chest plate having Medusa's head and owl resting on helmet, gilt detail rising on a rocaille base, incised numbers to the base, some loss to applied flowers on base, approx 17"h, 6lbs *Note: modeled after Sevres biscuit porcelain figure in the National Gallery of Canada collection no. 18374* *Provenance: Estate of Howard Hand (Texas, New York, 1921-2011).
