Description
Etruria, pre-Roman Italy, ca. 500 BCE. This bowl stands on its own and has a banded rim; the craftsmanship is apparent. Bucchero ware is a particular style of Etruscan pottery created by using the "reduction" method to fire the clay. A bowl like this would likely have been used in the household. Size: Bowl is 6-1/4" diameter; foot is 3-1/4" diameter; altogether, it is 3-3/4" tall.

Condition
This piece has been restored, with a portion of the rim (<3") replaced. There is some minor chipping to the rim and a patina; there is wear to the paint. Otherwise the bowl is intact with details around the rim clear.
