GAUTIER THEOPHILE: (1811-1872) French Poet & Novelist. A.L.S., Theophile Gautier, one page, 12mo, [Geneva], [18th August 1865], to Paul, in French. Gautier thanks his correspondent for his letter and states in his habitual small writing `..your letter, far from troubling me, has brought back pleasant souvenirs to me from Paris and from the friends I left there.´ further saying `Believe that I will make my best to obtain a success for Le Petit Moniteur and show that we can be amusing without having to stop writing in French..´. Gautier concludes adding to the foot `..thanks him for the effort he is making to write an article about my Russian trip´. Accompanied by the original envelope, hand written by Gautier. A good content letter. VG £200-300.
