Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed and dated by the artist, “Untitled” depicts a large propeller attached to an upright boat. Best known for his works based on boat forms, Cuban artist Kcho’s interest in objects associated with the sea can be traced back to his childhood spent by the water. With inverted dimensions, the image brings up questions of movement and feeling of danger. A sketchily-drawn man stands partially obscured at the back of the propeller, holdings its wheel in place.
