Description:
Text in two columns, black letter. Preceded by the Book of Common Prayer (1626) and Genealogies, with a double-page map of the Holy Land following the latter, and text "A Description of Canaan, and the bordering Countries." Both the general title and the New Testament title-pages with elaborate historiated woodcut borders. (4to) 22.3x16.5 cm (8¾x6 ½"), period calf tooled in blind, with metal corner protectors and central bosses to covers, leather clasps lacking.
Early King James Bible in an impressive period binding. Unusual for its completeness including the map and genealogy. On the front flyleaves is taped an ink note suggesting that the initials EA on the page before the Genealogies was likely those of Edward Audley. Bookplate of J. Roger Charles. Herbert 411.
