Description
The first time you see a Bundy bellbottom you stop and just gaze at it! Bundy was based in Ithaca, New York and they made lots of carbide lighting products. They may be best known for bicycle lamps. This lantern has a basic Star Headlight frame (5 1/4" globe size) and it has a modified bell to work with the Bundy fuel mechanism. The frame is also nickle plated. Take away the Bundy pot and it's a vanilla Star frame. What is striking is the appearance of the carbide mechanism. The base of the bell has a recessed tube. The Bundy pot is long and has patent information on the bottom. There is a slot cut into the intake area so that the flame adjusting shaft will clear the frame. I wish I could do more than 10 pictures on this one. The globe is a Dietz #6 (cast across the top area) with an extended base.
