Description
This lantern requires a double take. It has a Handlan 4 1/2" globe and it fits fine. The cage is a shortened Keystone version to accept this 1" shorter than normal globe. It really stands out when you see what has happened. It is NOT "put together" because the cage is clearly one inch shorter than normal. The top is standard. Maybe Handlan or in depth Pennsy collectors know all about this but It shook me! The frame has a top marked with the Keystone logo and a small Pennsy Keystone logo is stamped on the shoulder. The base has a platform that flops around a bit when the globe is not in. The base of the pot has a PRR Keystone logo stamped (inverse). The burner is a standard Handlan model (similar to an Adlake #100). The burner is a friction fit to the pot.
The Globe has a pronounced "HANDLAN 6" cast across the top and a standard 1" Keystone etch on one side. This is a great lantern and this type of unusual item only comes from a 40+ year collection or a needle in a haystack.
